Student Reviews

The biggest lesson is that you need to use the correct lease agreement and perhaps even more importantly, you need to UNDERSTAND your lease agreement.

The workshop helped me understand the lease agreement and how I can use it to my advantage, especially when it comes to cancellations and terminations. I have avoided many headaches by attending the workshop because it gave me a clear idea of what you can or should do when a tenant is not paying the rent. And as a bonus it’s also really interesting stuff!. Johan van den Berg – JHB

The letting workshop had double value for me, both as a landlord and as a tenent.. I am now making use of a rental agent with houses I am renting out in Bellville and Swellendam (W.Cape). Your lease agreement is excellent, and gave me a lot of confidence to continue the process without a rental agent.

On the other hand, I was also renting myself, a farmhouse in the Heidelberg (W.Cape) district. After all the practical information I learnt in the letting workshop, I realised that my landlord was trying to take me for a ride. With the information I was able to confront him with legitimate and up to date information - on which he had no answer, and lost his "case" against me. - Pierre van Den Berg

What I derived from the course was the interaction with the other course participants, which one can learn from and also network with in the future. The course itself is an eye opener especially if you want to run with the letting process from start to finish yourself. The legal aspects I found very much as the most important part of the course.

The detail of the course also spells what to do on a step-by-step basis to reduce the letting process risk to a minimum though there is no guarantee that your investment will be looked after by the tenants. Ideas on where the letting market is and how to go about dealing with your tenant, was also of great value. The course however needed more time in order to digest the nutritional value of the workshop. Keep up the good work. -  Ebrahiem Kammies

In life you come across all sorts of people offering to help you out, at a fee. Most offers just aren’t worth it and you leave feeling cheated. But once in a while someone comes along with something that’s value for money and exceeds your expectations; I found that in Karen and Sean Wheller when I did their Investor Letting Workshop. Their combined knowledge on the subject is extensive, current and PRACTICAL, they are passionate about property and teaching. I would not dream of getting a tenant in place without using their rental agreement.  - David Shadford

I really enjoyed the Calculating Residential Investment Deals course! It was very well constructed.

Overall I feel I grasped the main idea behind the course of how to work out and calculate a property to determine whether a property would be a good buy long term or in the short term, in real financial terms. Jason - Gary's Real Estate

I have been on PIN for a while now, and I feel my learning has been put on steroids. Since I joined PIN some 10 months ago my entire perspective about property investing and real estate in general has completely changed. This course in particular has hit home again, one of the main things I have learnt that there is a massive difference between speculating on real estate and investing and the entire system calculations and considerations have to be significantly different when employing these different strategies. I can also say that this is just the beginning for me and the more I learn the more I see my passion for property grow.  Brent Schwalm -  JHB
